Abstract:This paper demonstates the initial proposal and the connotation of the concept of infomation industry, objectively describes the status quo of the information industry in China,and practically analyses the reasons for its backwardness. The author holds that in order to better develop the information industry in our country, and to reduce the distinction between China and developed countries, we should first of all arouse the national awareness of information to the result that more high level information personnels are trained, and then toamplify laws and rules and regulations in terms of information industry, perfecting informational market, and thirdly to follow the way of simultaneous development ofinformationlization and industrialization. Only in this way can we better take the advantage of the present worldwide achievement of science and technology, successfully proceed down the information industry avenue which is applicable to China's conditions, so as to better prepared for the arrival of the cra of knowledge-based economy.
