Abstract:The essay systematically formulates and analyses some typical errors which have often occurred in the students' writing of college English. The main errors include Chinese English, fabrication, wordy, misuse of tenses and ambiguity. The essay points out that all these typical errors indicate that the college students haven't mastered the basic knowledge of English firmly; that they aren't certain of grammar and that they haven't undergone writing practice often. In view of this sitation, we must strengthen the writing practice and cultivate the students good study habits. Above all we must train the students to acquire certain writing skills of English. A sentence contains many of the basic elements to be considered in the writing of English. We must eliminate the incorrect sentences in order to get rid of the errors in the writing of college English.Beginning with writing correct, clear, coherent and concise sentences is the key to college English writing.
