Abstract:This paper discusses some probicms in current Engish teaching; analyses thedisadvantages of grammar - translation method, and emphasizes the necessity of relating the struc-tures of a foreign language to their communicative functions in real situations and the impor-tance of the oral approach to collop English lanpuage teaching and learning in China.
