Abstract:Ellipsis, a common phenomenon, is characteristic of English. Ellipsis in complex snetences of English, which mainly consists of attribute clause, object clause, adverbial clause, subject clausse, emphatic pattern and absolute construction of participles, is especially difficult for foreign learners, who should exert every effort to enhance the correct understanding of complex sentences with varied ellipses, in order to precisely express themselves.
